About the SAIC MSI Program


Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) services a $165 million contract awarded by the Commonwealth of Virginia to serve as a Multisourcing Service Integrator (MSI). Under the contract, SAIC provides an innovative approach to assist the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) with modernizing the state’s technology infrastructure. Under the contract, SAIC coordinates and monitors multiple IT infrastructure services suppliers for state executive branch agencies. The MSI is the cornerstone of a strategy that diversifies the state’s portfolio of suppliers, improves service delivery quality, ensures cost-competitiveness, and provides transparency and accountability into the commonwealth’s service delivery platform.

 
Position Summary

SAIC is seeking an Assistant Configuration Manager / Service Mapping Analyst to join our team supporting a major state & local government customer. The Configuration Manager / Service Mapping Analyst is responsible for defining and managing the business services and applications within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) as a part of the Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) team. The ideal candidate must also serve as a backup to all position responsibilities using legacy technology and implement capabilities throughout the enterprise for a large infrastructure support program. Essential duties of this position include:

  • Drive implementation and execution of configuration management process, in relation to all business service offerings
  • Expert knowledge of the CMDB, IT Asset lifecycle management, and the IT Service Management (ITSM) platform
  • Communicate effectively by using dashboards, spreadsheets, power points, and reports.
  • Shepherd customization of the platform and CMDB
  • Execute a holistic view across the Service Management disciplines

The Assistant Configuration Manager / Service Mapping Analyst stays abreast of new features and functionality, playing a key role in driving continual service improvement. You will have the opportunity to solve complex problems, design user-friendly interfaces, and optimize processes through automation. This position offers the chance to improve the speed, efficiency, and reporting capability of IT services. The Service Mapping Analyst will also play a key role in representing current and future capabilities of supporting ITSM tools, and contributing to long-term strategy as well as tactical activities leading to the continual improvement of the environment to meet objectives. 


Qualifications

Background / Experience
 
  • Highly experienced in Configuration Management and IT Asset Management
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, capable of working independently and in small groups
  • Ability to lead / assist with formulation and definition of solution scope and objectives while working with a team of reporting developers / analysts on functional requirements and specifications.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for automation, orchestration and development of service catalog requirements
  • Defines the structure of the configuration management system, including CI types, naming conventions, attributes and relationships.
  • Creates, implements, and communicates configuration management plans, processes, and standards.
  • Facilitates the negotiation of the scope of the configuration management process in collaboration with CMDB governing structures, process owners, and IT business stakeholders.
  • Works with other process owners to ensure an integrated approach to the design, implementation, and coordination of interfaces between configuration management and other service management processes. (Change, Release, Incident, and Knowledge).
  • Identifies which CIs need to be managed and controlled from the basis of Asset and Configuration Management. Proposes and agrees to the CI types and level of detail at which CIs are to be identified.
  • Evaluates systems that discover and interface with configuration management database.
  • Plans and executes population of the configuration management database (manual and automated); manages CMDB, central libraries, tools, common codes and data; ensures daily adherence to proper process and procedures for maintaining the CMDB.
  • Ensures changes to the configuration management processes are properly approved and communicated.
  • Works collaboratively across the MSI and with clients to implement CMDB assets and leads project implementation.
  • Produces and distributes management reports for configuration management.
  • Defines certification and audit processes and engages the CI class owners on regular certification efforts.
  • On-boards new CI Owners and manages training materials and quick guides.
  • Reviews the Configuration Management process on a regular basis for efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • With limited direction, supports the implementation of service catalog systems into production.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a contributing member of a small team 
  • Strong working knowledge of ServiceNow, preferred
 
 
Education / Certifications / Other
  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more of related experience; Masters and three (3) years or more related experience. May consider an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree. 
  • ITIL certification preferred (Foundation or above)
  • IAITAM Certification a plus (CHAMP, CSAM, CITAM, etc.)
  • Strong skills with: MS Office products and Microsoft SharePoint
