We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer service oriented System Engineer to begin an exciting and challenging career with SAIC.
Provide enterprise technology architecture support services, defined as services that set the direction for the future technology framework in a manner which meets FERC requirements to comply with evolving business needs, mandated federal policies and security directives while incorporating industry methods and best practices. Provide the tools, experience, approaches and leadership to move the FERC IT Enterprise forward into a proactive, highly customer responsive system following industry best practices. Analyze and report applicable new and developing technologies for feasibility to integrate into the FERC IT Enterprise. Analyze and provide recommendations to FERC on how best to upgrade and/or replace outdated business systems, SW and HW (desktop computing, peripherals and infrastructure components), and assess the impact of an upgrade. Provide recommendations for streamlining FERC’s computing and communication systems. Collaborate with other Vendors to analyze As-Is business process models (in conjunction with industry methods and best practices). Utilize these business process models to develop Technology Bricks, Standards, and Patterns for FERC Technology Architecture (TA). Identify, assess and provide recommendations for system efficiency gains, improved performance and reliability, and reduction of ownership costs. Further develop and update (annually) Infrastructure and Architecture Roadmap(s). Collaborate with the CIO Directorate to develop and maintain the Technology Architecture Framework (TAF). The TAF will be used to guide new IT implementations and modernizations across the FERC IT Enterprise over the duration of the contract. Collaborate with appropriate FERC Government Counterparts in the development and implementation of the IT Cloud Strategy ranging from infrastructure to applications (e.g.,IaaS, SaaS, and DevSecOps pipeline solutions). Provide recommendations for the virtualization and optimization of FERC IT Infrastructure components and systems such as storage, servers, network/connectivity hardware, etc.
Assess the security vulnerabilities associated with a given upgrade, the feasibility of bringing the legacy components to current versions (within versions n to n-1), or whether it would be most cost effective to replace the existing component or host the component as a cloud based service. The “n-1 Study” shall include results of the assessment and recommendations whether to maintain the current version (or version other than n-1), to upgrade the component to n-1, or replace the component based on factors such as cost, difficulty, risk, obsolescence, technical integration and FERC IT environmental constraints.
Defines discrete systems with processes to link together complex systems and components with software applications to perform as a coordinated whole. Has a broad range of skills and a breadth of knowledge in several IT disciplines including systems and enterprise architecture, software and hardware engineering, interface protocols, and general problem solving skills. May include analysis of transition planning, intelligence formation requirements, and may develop architecture baselines. Assists with and leads development of integration and migration plans/schedules. Acts as an advocate for internal and external clients as the ultimate authority on the architecture design to address client business problems. Supports business process improvements or systems analysis for missions, systems, and fiscal requirements. Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Contributes to completion of routine technical tasks.
