SAIC is looking for a Metrologist with quality assurance and quality control experience to help our team in Virginia Beach, VA build a Qualified Supplier List Distributor (QSLD) program.
Conduct verification of part conformance based on review of manufacturing test reports and conducting measurements using standard metrology instruments after review of drawings and specification standards.
Maintain the Qualified Supplier List (QSL) program in audit-ready condition including maintaining the records of inspections and results of inspections in electronic and paper format.
Assist the Quality Manager to establish and maintain the QSL part surveillance program.
Use automated tools for capturing data required for the QSL program.
Scope includes aerospace, industrial, and OEM fasteners approximately 75% of the time.
Help establish the QSLD program at this location:
Establish templates in electronic format to facilitate rapid part inspections
Tracking the calibration records of the tooling used during inspections
Produce inspection reports for Lots sampled on a daily basis
Maintain and populate an electronic file of records and test reports
Assisting the Quality Manager with internal process audits (IPAs)
Education and Experience
Extensive knowledge and experience with calipers, micrometers, protractors, external thread gages, internal thread gages and optical comparators.
Ability to read and interpret parts drawings and specifications.
Auditor and Metrology Schoolhouse formal training and experience.
Experience with comparator software, and drawing applications.
Familiarity with National Aerospace (NAS), Society of Automotive Engineering, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) standards, and others.
