SAIC is searching for an experienced leader in the role of Deputy Site Lead to join our team supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program (DoD HPCMP) Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) DoD Distributed Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.


The successful deputy candidate will manage a diverse staff of up to 60 personnel, oversee multi-discipline processes in support of a dynamic, controlled environment, and provide key communication to stakeholders.  This includes:


  • Establishing overall performance standards for initiatives, project managers and their teams.
  • Assigning project managers, team members or other staff to various tasks or phases of work in the life cycle of multiple projects or products.

  • Supervising the team and the training and work of production, design and also development of staff.

  • Tracking performance of members of various teams or groups to assess compliance with budgetary, time and other requirements.

  • Overseeing all aspects of site management to include talent acquisition and personnel management

  • Acting as the interlocutor between SAIC and customer leadership.  Accountable to Site Lead for daily and strategic tasks.

  • Managing diverse staff of IT Subject Matter Experts to include System Administrators, Network Administrators, Security (physical and systems), hardware/software management, procurement, DSRC Help Desk, facility and project management.

  • Managing and integrating site specific facility projects, activities and supply chain activities for the center  in accordance with contract requirements and ensure technical, schedule, cost, and financial performance

  • Ensuring all process are well-defined, documented, communicated, and understood

  • Managing customer, vendor, user relationships and ensuring compliance with quality standards and escalate challenges to SAIC leadership

  • Organizing programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the DSRC

  • Developing new programs to support the strategic direction of the DSRC

  • Reviewing work products of teams for compliance with short and long-term objectives and goals

  • Assisting customer in developing Program Management and Financial Reviews

  • Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement

  • Ensuring goals are met in areas including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and team member performance

  • Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services

  • Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle to include risk management

  • Coordinating with and briefing the customer, customer clients and other groups involved in the support of AFRL DSRC systems/infrastructure

  • Developing/fostering team cohesion and cross-discipline collaboration 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Bachelors and ten (10) years or more of related experience; Masters and eight (8) years or more experience; PhD or JD and six (6) years or more experience.


Clearance: Must have a current/active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance


Required Skills:

  • 10+ years leading diverse workforce to include talent acquisition and problem resolution
  • Proven experience in program management

  • Proven stakeholder management and customer relationship management skills
  • Prior experience managing IT system/data centers/teams to include infrastructure environmental, facility, and operations concepts (electrical, mechanical, and HVAC)

  • Experience working with and leading subcontractors

  • Excellent communication/presentation skills with diverse customer(s)/SAIC leadership

  • Excellent attention to detail and strategic planning skills 


DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • A broad background in HPC Data Center management/support, capable of interacting and communicating with all technical support staff disciplines

  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing/emerging efforts

  • Advanced degree in a technical field

  • IT Security/Risk Management Framework

  • Experience managing large facilities, construction, infrastructure or data center projects

  • Experience working in large computing environments

OTHER:

  • May require occasional travel (10%)
