Description

SAIC is seeking a Radar Satellite Engineer to provide radar sensor expertise and technical assistance within a Government Program Office. The position will be located in Chantilly, VA and requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph.


In this role, you will apply engineering knowledge and operational expertise to oversee Radar development activities as part of the planning and execution of a next generation Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) satellite architecture. 


Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in an interactive team environment with Government customer leads, payload development contractors, and operational user community representatives.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to support the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of Radar sensors including development of the radar processors and antennas
  • Assist in understanding radar GEOINT user needs, analyzing operational/user requirements, and developing acquisition requirements to flow-down to responsible acquisition offices.
  • Participate in system design activities, as necessary, to determine if the proposed design is adequate to meet the established operational requirements.
  • Support the customer in the oversight of radar development, integration, and test activities and provide feedback to the GPOC
  • Assess radar payload technical performance and identify risks to program plans and schedules.
  • Proactively identify and assess emerging technical and programmatic risks at the enterprise and system level and then work with the GPOC to develop and evaluate mitigation approaches
  • Track development issues, significant accomplishments and upcoming events and provide weekly status updates, orally and in writing
  • Author, review, and coordinate documents

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.

  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with current Polygraph
  • Experience working in a satellite System Program Office (SPO) or a satellite development facility
  • Able to confidently and proactively execute Government customer intent, within the bounds of a SETA’s authority but in the absence of detailed Government direction 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working at an operational ground station or as field representative in support of satellite operations
  • Minimum of 9 years of engineering experience with radar satellite development activities
