Job Description


SAIC is looking for a Chief Systems Engineer to support a Civilian Agency. 

Enhance, innovate, and automate with an objective of increasing the operational effectiveness of an existing production system based on Amazon Public Cloud (AWS) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (AWS S3). This application is used for searching, viewing, retrieving, and managed bulk downloading of bibliographic patent metadata and documents. The approach will utilize Agile, DevSecOps, and Lean best practices to efficiently and modularly develop, deploy, and operate the target solution. The solution will address the pay as you go storefront user interface, data ingesting, new functionality, security, compliance, auto-scalability, monitoring, and performance concerns.

Job Description:

SAIC is looking for a Chief Software Engineer to lead An AWS cloud based automation and enhancement project.

Analyze and design all aspects of AWS environments and topologies. Assess automation opportunity from architectural perspective and prioritize proposed solutions.

Migrate and deploy various customer datasets to AWS including large volume data ingestion, organization, synchronization, and search retrieval optimization.

Implement AWS security, privacy, performance, and monitoring solutions, including automated responses.

Identify, Architect, estimate, and lead the development of DevSecOps and process automation opportunities.

Anticipate, identify, track, and resolve technical issues and risks affecting delivery.

Architect cloud, hybrid, virtual, and physical hardware and software systems.

Design and implement Pay as you go storefronts and digital download order management.

Lead the technical team in system integration, synchronization, auto-scaling, and interface activities.

Proactively identify and resolve operational, tooling and process inefficiencies.

Develop project and design technical documentation and customer presentations.

Maintain regular contact with customers. Respond to customer requests promptly. Participate in process reviews to ensure the highest level of process design and process understanding prior to automation.

Provide mentoring, technical assistance, and training to project team and customer.




Required Job Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in IT related field (substitute 4 years. experience in lieu of degree).

18 years' experience designing, developing, and implementing software solutions.

4 years’ experience in an AWS cloud environment.

5 years’ experience with Agile SDLC and DevSecOps environment.

10 years’ experience leading teams of software working on complex software projects.

Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance with minimum 2 years US residency

Proficient polyglot programmer (Java, C, C#, C++, python, ElasticSearch/SOLR, etc.)

Experienced in modern enterprise architecture patterns for modernizing applications, microservices, and containerization.

Capability to lead/drive test-driven development and continuous integration \ continuous delivery (CI\CD) across multiple HW/SW platforms

Experience with incrementally improving infrastructure, process and architecture concerns derived from requirements for hardware/software compatibility, system interfaces, processes, architecture threads, and system security parameters.

Ability to mentor and oversee other technical team members in the analysis, design, development, and deployment of automations in a cloud/DevSecOps environment.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills and organizational skills

Technical writing skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of documentation tools.

Experience analyzing and implementing large volume data ingestion, organization, synchronization, and search retrieval optimization capabilities.

Experience with Pay as you go storefronts and digital download order management.

Experience with system integration, synchronization, auto-scaling, and interfaces.


Desired Job Qualifications:

Experience with Extreme Programming, test-driven development, pairing, and related techniques

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Cloud Foundry

AWS Professional certification

SAFe DevOps certification

IAT II Certification (or equivalent)

CISSP (or IAT III equivalent) Certification

Experience with section 508 compliance
