Description
SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer is needed to support a high-availability, enterprise SATCOM program. The candidate must be technical and detail oriented, willing to learn the associated tools for tasking, planning, research and data routing, as well as tools for operations center support and system health / performance monitoring.
We are looking for someone with experience with Visual Basic for Applications and enterprise messaging services or at least willing to learn these tools. Using VBA, create code to manipulate and display SATCOM beam data and to assist with processing large quantities of test data; as well as field customer questions regarding device aiming and/or movement in beam centers due to satellite’s inclination and eccentricity, and field general orbital mechanics questions, primarily, regarding geosynchronous satellites. Using enterprise messaging services, conduct operational surveys and generate travel cables and system notification to AOR to include performing cable coordination (i.e., knowing who to include in the cable). This position is a great opportunity for a mid-level SATCOM Engineer to gain valuable experience while supporting critical operations for our customer. Selected candidate will be trained and mentored into a subject matter expert over the period of the next few years while in this position however, must be willing to learn.
This position also incorporates additional ISSO / Security responsibilities, working closely with the team, ISSO, ISSM and Customer. This is a multi-tasking environment that demands customer service, communication, and organizational skills. A successful candidate will be motivated, results-oriented and have a willingness to learn. The candidate will maintain the operational security posture to ensure information systems (IS) security policies, standards, and procedures are established and followed.
Qualifications
Experience with operational support center and / or SATCOM systems.
CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required ~15 % of time.
Experience with programming or scripting language as applied to test development and automation.
Linux operating environment and virtualization experience.
Knowledge of networking protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, etc.).
