Job Description:  

Provide systems engineering support to customer’s competitive funding of innovative project ideas to develop viable enhanced solutions. The Senior Systems Engineer (SE) will assist applicants submitting new project ideas by helping them effectively communicate and document the expected outcome of proposed efforts. The SE will be responsible for working with the project sponsor to iteratively improve the Technology Insertion Template (Project Applications) to develop a clearly identified Minimum Viable Product.  The SE will work with the Project Sponsor/Champion to ensure proposed efforts are effectively documented and presented to the project selection board. Upon project approval by the board, the Systems Engineer will work as liaison between approved project sponsor/champion and the capability developers. The SE will monitor the project from kick-off through capability delivery, and will aid the government customer in assessing degree to which delivered capability met the initially identified requirements. The SE will also assist the government with planning and programming of any follow-on actions such as project transition to the baseline, follow-on investment efforts, or project decommissioning.     

Qualifications

Individual Capabilities/Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline and at least 20 years of systems engineering experience.  A Master’s or PhD Degree may be substituted for two years of experience.  Note: a High School Diploma or GED plus 24 years of systems engineering experience would also be acceptable.
  • Ability to deconstruct initial concepts into detailed requirements that can be executed by capability development teams
  • Position requires TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

 

Individual Capabilities/Experience Desired:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Experience in working with competitive project decision making processes and monitoring status and performance of short-term (1 to 2 year) capability demonstration efforts
