SAIC applies innovative science and technology, high performance computing resources, and advanced laboratory technology to the problem of developing and testing advanced laser and nonlinear optical sensor concepts and components for the United States Air Force.
The successful applicant will play a key role in lab operations, including design, development, and construction of test and evaluation facilities for advanced active sensor concepts and components. The initial project focuses on nonlinear optics in gas-filled hollow core photonic crystal fibers.
The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating with the concept team on understanding the operational principles and modes of the unit under test and applying that knowledge to the construction of appropriate test hardware. The ability to communicate with a wide variety of subject matter experts and determine real, actionable requirements and functional designs and optical hardware is critical.
The successful applicant will support laboratory test, including setup, debugging, operation and documentation.
The successful applicant will be involved in the development, set up, and testing of optical laser systems and components.
The successful applicant will need to be able to work effectively both within a team and individually.
The successful applicant must have the ability to anticipate testing requirements and technology to act proactively to position the lab for improvement and success.
Minimum education and experience requirements: Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience, or Master’s degree plus 3 year of experience. Ph.D. applicants are welcome.
Experimental research background in nonlinear optics or laser development desired. Will consider other optics research experience.
Experience with numerical modeling tools such as MATLAB or Mathematica is desired.
Applicant must be qualified to obtain a DoD secret security clearance. Existing clearance desired.
