Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Software Engineer to provide on-site support at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI. You will serve as a Software Engineer and Developer within the Undersea Systems Analysis Branch in support of threat Modeling and Simulation (M&S) projects for development and integration with live, virtual, constructive (LVC) simulation environments.


NUWC Newport is a shore command of the U.S. Navy within the Naval Sea Systems Command, which engineers, builds and supports America’s fleet of ships and combat systems. NUWC Newport provides research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, undersea offensive and defensive weapons systems, and countermeasures associated with undersea warfare.


NUWC Newport is the oldest warfare center in the country, tracing its heritage to the Naval Torpedo Station established on Goat Island in Newport Harbor in 1869.  Commanded by Captain Michael Coughlin, NUWC Newport maintains major detachments in West Palm Beach, Florida, and Andros Island in the Bahamas, as well as test facilities at Seneca Lake and Fisher's Island, New York, Leesburg, Florida, and Dodge Pond, Connecticut.

  •  Performs, designs, develops, tests, integrates and configures software applications and components in support of Modeling and Simulation
  • Provides software engineering expertise to the Modeling and Simulation development, test, and analysis team
  • Adheres to software development and configuration management processes


  • Must have an Active DOD Secret security clearance
  • Must have obtained a Associates Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field and 4 years of experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field and 2 years of experience; OR a Master’s Degree and 0 years experience (required)
  • Must have strong skills in the following:
    • C++
    • Object-Oriented Software Engineering
    • Windows/Visual Studio or RedHat Enterprise Linux/gcc
