SAIC is seeking an IDM Deputy Program Manager to support efforts in Huntsville, AL.

SAIC is supporting the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) in continuation of the Improved Data Modem (IDM) sustainment and development. The IDM is a communication device for the Army rotorcraft digital fleet. It is an Airworthy hardware and software system. The S3I is supporting software sustainment for fielded IDM systems and an update to transition to the Multi Core Processor (MCP) Operating Environment (OE) implementation of the IDM Software Application (ISA). The S3I also manages production and test for the IDM 401 hardware through a small IDM Production Team located at S3I and collaboration with IDM HW vendors and the IDM Production Facility located at Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD).

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement, track and maintain the IDM production schedule for multiple customers.

  • Manage all aspects of the S3I IDM production staff including planning, budgeting, scheduling and reporting.

  • Identify and maintain material resources required by the S3I IDM team needed for SW load and test of IDMs, distribution of IDMs and repair of IDMs.

  • Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement

  • Define, implement and enforce standard operating procedures for the S3I IDM Production Team to include adherence to health and safety procedures.

  • Set product quality standards

  • Monitor quality standards of products

  • Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives

  • Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems

  • Determine and implement improvements to the production process

  • Prepare and maintain production reports

  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement

  • Estimate production costs

  • Set production budgets

  • Manage production budgets

  • Implement cost control programs

  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and management


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or similar
  • 14 years or more applicable experience to include knowledge and experience in:
    • Production and manufacturing processes and techniques
    • Knowledge of raw materials
    • Knowledge of quality systems and standards
    • Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance
    • Knowledge of process improvement techniques
    • Knowledge of business, finance and management principles
    • Knowledge of human resource principles and practices
    • Knowledge of machines and tools
    • Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices
  • Must possess an active SECRET clearance
