Graphic design professional to support internal and external communications and marketing efforts for specific Strategic Engagement Initiatives, such as National Drone Safety Awareness Week. 

Applies knowledge of flight procedures and aviation to assist in communicating goals and objectives to targeted stakeholders across functional areas, private industry and other governmental agencies. Assists with communication, informing and educating various stakeholders, private industry and general public on safety, capacity and efficiency improvements to the NAS based on advanced technology, innovative operational concepts and emerging business practices as well as all flight operational aspects of instrument flight operations projects and other flight operations applications resulting from the introduction of new technologies and concepts.


A graphic and web design support contractor will help our office provide AUS executives and representatives with digital and graphical products for immediate use or distribution in presentations and audience-limited briefs, especially under short suspense. The candidate will take projects from concept to completion, generating or working from a creative brief as appropriate, and will turn complex ideas into inviting and understandable visuals and reports, as well as web and digital projects. The candidate will provide support the AUS web lead and assist with routine processes, updates, content creation, and editing. The candidate's work will be complementary to, but different from that offered by AOC and their FAA graphics team in the sense that most of the candidate's work will be used in more targeted, smaller products provided to a more limited audience, while AOC's services will continue to be used primarily for development and production of graphics intended for public consumption, either on our website or in event marketing collateral. In addition, the contractor will support employee facing web and digital communications needs for AUS. The individual will primarily support office-wide objectives, but individual Divisions may also request specific projects. All tasking and project requests will be coordinated through the AUS-10 Communications Team Lead.


The candidate should have comprehensive knowledge of graphic art production, visual information design, publication design, web design, digital communications, and other technical multimedia forms to design communication products appropriate for target audiences. Similarly, they should have experience coordinating visual products across teams for in-house production operations. The individual should also have high-level working knowledge of web and digital communications, including web content management systems, web and visual design best practices, and HTML. The candidate will develop new and innovative graphics for AUS presentations and reports and web and digital communications products, which may be reviewed and analyzed by the FAA and DOT, and which may be used by other federal agencies and departments. The candidate must adhere to the branding, visual style guidelines, and web style guidelines established by AOC when designing and producing graphical elements, digital communications, and web products and must collaborate with AOC designers and web team, as needed, on visual, interactive, motion, digital, or web products. The candidate must have experience with routine and strategic use of industry standard software tools (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, After Effects, and web content management systems).


Job Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in communications or related field and 5 years of experience in an aviation related field, such as air carrier operations, military aviation, air traffic control, instrument procedure development, or flight standardization board pilots. Bachelor’s Degree may be waived with 8 years of experience in performing the above duties.

Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Required clearance is an SF-85P completed on site by the FAA.

This is a part time position approximately 2 weeks per month for a duration of 1 year.
