SAIC is seeking an EDIS Senior Network Engineer to support the U.S. Space Force (USSF), Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Development Corps (DC), Innovation and Prototyping Directorate (DCI), Prototype Operations Division (SMC/DCIO) through the Engineering, Development, Integration, and Sustainment (EDIS) contract. SAIC will support SMC to modernize satellite ground systems for the USSF through the Research and Development Space and Missile Operations (RDSMO) program, as well as the Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) project at multiple locations. This position is located in Aurora, Colorado. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Provide network engineering support to EGS mission systems at the SBIRS MCS. Perform day-to-day operational processes to include network scans, patches, updates, preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), system backup and recovery, firewall management, and other critical mission support tasks. Respond to urgent customer/user requests and support service ticketing processes (e.g. Jira, ServiceNow)
  • Continuously monitor system status to rapidly identify faults, troubleshoot, and perform corrective actions for LAN/WAN/VPN networks. Analyze network trends and resolve bandwidth issues. Review SNMP alerts, use protocol-line analyzers (sniffers) and conduct log forensics to determine root cause analysis and resolution
  • Ensure mass storage and system/mission data availability and recoverability through system backups and database archive operations. Maintain system documentation and assist with configuration management. Support system test and evaluation. Coordinate with commercial vendors as required
  • Work closely with System Administrators, System Engineers, mission partners, customers, and users to help determine, implement, and manage system lifecycle processes. Support decision-making, technical assessments, and integration of services and solutions
  • Recommend and make decisions on administrative or project work matters and ensure effective achievement of program, project, or organizational objectives
  • Coordinate with the Team Lead, engineering leads, and development team to ensure collaborative execution of mission support. Contribute to a professional team environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years or more experience; Master’s degree with three (3) years or more experience; Doctorate degree with zero (0) years or more experience. *Experience may be considered in-lieu of education
  • Active TS/SCI or SCI eligibility; must have verified eligibility for TS/SCI at hire
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT level II approved certification (e.g. Security+) and the ability to maintain all required DoD 8570 certifications
  • Strong background in network engineering, network architecture design, network management systems, NAS/SAN technologies, and protocol analyzers/sniffers
  • Experience with network monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytic tools, as well as authentication and encryption methods and DoD security practices
  • Evidence of positive team involvement and the ability to contribute to the completion of programs and projects assigned. Ability to organize efforts, achieve results, document findings, and interact with peers as well as senior management
  • Strong background in Microsoft Office Product Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting USSF (AFSPC) satellite operations or space missions
  • Knowledge of VMware ESXi virtual environments and management of virtual servers
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, security groups, and group policies
  • Certifications and/or knowledge in Visio, Splunk, Palo Alto, MongoDB, MCSE, RHCE, Oracle, Cisco, Linux, Nimble, ServiceNow
