Position is located in Pensacola, FL


The System Administrator supports the PMW-240 Navy e-Learning Team with IT projects and initiatives. Responsible for planning, development, installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and optimization of all technical infrastructure as required. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Some after hours support is required (as needed) to implement changes/repairs to production systems in a timely manner. 

 
Responsibilities

Participates in highly complex system architecture, system installation and integration projects

 Performs integrated application installs, patches and upgrades

 Performs web and database administration of service-oriented systems

 Documents processes for configuration/change management and generates reports

 Performs system application performance and functionality testing

 Assists in capacity planning activities

 Troubleshoots server issues, networking issues, COTS/GOTS applications and support equipment

 Develops documentation to support Information Awareness Certification and Accreditation package submissions

 Monitors daily system operation and performance of systems and support applications. After hours support (as needed) to implement changes/repairs to production systems in a timely manner

Performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages

Assists in capacity planning activities

Troubleshoots server issues, networking issues, COTS/GOTS applications and support equipment

Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages

Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures

 Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels; Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities

 Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations

 Plans and implements the modernization of servers

 Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules

 Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines

Recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s)

Develops and implements new standards, policies, and procedures

 Incumbent in this job works closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented

 Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies

 Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules

 Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s)

 


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline is required.  4 Additional years of experience may be substituted for a Degree.
  • Six (6) years or more of industry accepted Information Technology (IT) experience is required
  • IAT II (CCNA Security or CSA+ or GICSP or GSEC or Security+ce or SSCP) certification may be required.
  • Active DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance is required
  • Advanced level Operating System (OS) certificate in Windows and Linux is required
Skills
  • SQL scripting, Java, Windows Server, UNIX, Linux, Oracle 12c, TOAD,Java Developer, data backups, load balancing
