Description

SAIC is currently looking for a Systems Engineer to support the Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) in Huntsville Alabama (Redstone Arsenal).

The Precision Fires Multiple Launcher Rocket Systems (MLRS) is being developed by the Army, with SAIC as the Prime Contractor, to redesign the currently fielded Fire Control System (FCS) software.   The system provides the command and control interface, weapons & launcher interfaces and embedded training for soldiers to complete operational missions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Candidate will be expected to work in a small team, agile environment, to engineer the design, implementation and test of software (SW) components/applications through the entire SW lifecycle.
  • Candidate will be expected to recommend solutions to technical problems/needs of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Candidate will be expected to perform functional analysis, analyze and design system capabilities by decomposing larger system capability sets into smaller, incrementally delivered component requirements with full traceability.
  • Candidate will be expected to derive functional and component level requirements by developing use cases, functional diagrams, user interface design, and interface documents.
  • Candidate will be expected to translate customer requirements into hardware, software or engineering specifications.
  • Candidate will be expected to provide WBS / IMS (Integrated Master Schedule) estimates on the time required to design, model and implement requirements of SW components.
  • Candidate will be required to create and present design documentation and participate in lifecycle reviews of software components.
  • Candidate will be expected to follow established project procedures and processes.
  • Good communication and collaborative skills AND the ability to interact with senor personnel (Internal & External) on technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Candidate will be expected to participate in peer reviews of system capability requirements, design, test strategies and implementation (e.g. code reviews).
  • Candidate will be expected to provide guidance in creating test environments and participate in system tests of developed SW in a lab environment with actual fielded hardware.
