Job Description


Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) is the center of technical excellence for developing, acquiring, fielding, and sustaining military space systems.  SAIC supports SMC’s mission and is currently looking for Systems Engineers to conduct research, analysis, planning, engineering, and valuation activities for the Production Corps at SMC. Tasks will include independently identify high-risk areas associated with development and production of space systems.  Research shall establish benefits, impacts, and risks associated with technical decisions in order to reduce, mitigate, and avoid negative impacts to the Mission Area programs as well as the associated users and stakeholders with a focus on process and integration improvement.  This position is located at Los Angeles AFB, CA.  Key aspects of this position will include the following:

  • Project Management Planning
  • Monthly Status Reporting

  • Conducting Quarterly Project Management Reviews

  • Review and coordinate on Technical Reports 

Job Specific Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of the initial Program Management Plan (PMP)
  • Ensure costs, schedules, and forecasted delivery dates of all deliverables are met

  • Project status in Monthly Status Reports (MSRs)

  • Identify planned versus actual expenditures per project; with the total monthly and cumulative ODC expenditures; the status of known risks and risk mitigation efforts; deliverables funded, technical progress made, and schedule status per deliverable; the titles, dates, and the number(s) of each deliverable completed; and the deliverables scheduled to be delivered during the upcoming month.

  • Conduct quarterly project management reviews with the government to include detailed project information on cost, schedule, performance, risk assessment, and risk mitigation plans

  • Coordinating locations for conferences and providing the venue

  • Manage attendee invites and acceptances, badging, and security, and may provide printouts of briefs to attendees

  • May lead and direct the work of others.



  • Masters degree and twelve (12) years or more of related experience
  • Clearance level: TS/SCI
  • Participated with senior managers to establish plans and objectives
  • Ability to recommend/make decisions on administrative or project work matters and ensures effective achievement of program, project, or organizational objectives
