Job Description


SAIC is looking for a Technical Trainer to support a dynamic program at Kirtland AFB. This position requires and active Top Secret Clearance. 

Provide dedicated advisory and assistance services (A&AS) support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Nuclear Enterprise Directorate (NE), Inspections & Education Department (NE-IE), Defense Nuclear Weapons School (DNWS).  Serves as a nuclear weapons planner and subject matter expert (SME) in various aspects of Nuclear Policy with emphasis on nuclear targeting and Conventional Nuclear Integration (CNI).

  • Primary duty entails expertise in nuclear planning and targeting process.  
  • Skills will be leveraged to develop and deliver course material covering CNI. 
  • Provides technical and practical advice and training on all aspects of nuclear weapons.    
  • Maintains course curriculum to ensure content is accurate and up-to-date.  
  • Responsible for the development and updating of courses based on additional individual training and research.
  • Provides instruction to an interagency audience that includes Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), the intelligence community, and other agencies.  
  • Principle areas of instruction will deal with U.S. Nuclear weapons operational and physical characteristics, targeting, delivery system, and nuclear weapons effects and employment. 




  • Top Secret security clearance
  • At least two years relevant experience in theater nuclear weapons targeting
  • In-depth knowledge and a thorough understanding of nuclear policy, radiation detection, the theory of nuclear weapons design, nuclear materials production, radiological effects of nuclear weapons, blast and thermal effects of nuclear weapons, laws and treaties regarding nuclear weapons, nuclear proliferation, nuclear intelligence challenges, and the history and evolution of nuclear weapons
  • Ability to collaborate across a diverse workforce to achieve objectives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop presentations and brief senior leaders
  • Experience with MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Desired Skills:

  • BS/BA or higher degree
  • Relevant experience in developing DOD training programs and conducting instruction concerning the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile and related nuclear surety issues 
  • Knowledge of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile to include safety, security, system capabilities, life cycle, components, and delivery methods 
  • Ability to conduct research in relevant areas and give subject matter expertise advice to instructor cadre
