Description

SAIC is seeking a Support Equipment Engineer to support the Air Force's next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system acquisition. Our customer is the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program Office located at Hill Air Force Base, north of Salt Lake City, Utah. This will be a long-term project with the weapon system anticipated to remain operational until 2075. This is a massive development effort with many opportunities. We are seeking a senior mechanical engineer with a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment. This is a great opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and challenging development and acquisition efforts in the DoD with a great company. This position requires the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision, exercising initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned tasks.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

- Design and evaluate support, handling, and test equipment utilizing 3D modeling software

- Develop, review and evaluate design specifications

- Correlate design requirements to verification methods and activities

Qualifications

  • Candidate shall have a full understanding of classic system engineering development cycle from initial system requirement development through trade analysis & design synthesis, product design validation & verification and final product sell-off.
  • 5-10 years system design experience with Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university.
  • Experience in supporting design & implementation of complex mechanical equipment.
  • Understand mechanical system design principle and product configuration control.
  • Ability to interpret and implement specific requirements and coordinate design evolutionary processes.
  • Attention to detail, conversant with MS office tools.
  • Must have an active Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Be a full spectrum leader with ability to interpret and implement specific requirements and coordinate design evolutionary processes.
  • Ability to lead a large & complex project working with multiple engineering disciplines and the design team in delivering the final product.
  • Full understanding of risk management ensure product risks are identified early to mitigate & minimize any adverse impact.
  • Possess Can-Do attitude, and ability to identify and execute required steps to bring projects to successful closure.
  • Excellent professional and interpersonal communication skills required to interface with individuals from various disciplines while performing complex serial and parallel tasks required to successfully deliver support equipment products to our Customer.
  • Experience creating and developing preliminary engineering designs and layouts.
  • Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including NX Solid Modelling, CAD, CATIA V5, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is advantageous.
