SAIC is currently looking for candidates to join our OMDAC SWACA II team upon award. Team SAIC is pursuing the opportunity to provide operation, maintenance, and defense support of Title X communications equipment and information systems under the purview of the Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM), 160th Signal Brigade and its subordinate units in the Southwest Asia (SWA) Theater of operations. Positions are located in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar and include a range of qualifications.

The Outside Plant Technicians will perform all work associated with customer support, to include site surveys, installation, movement or removal of telephone instruments, modular phone installations and associated peripheral equipment and LAN drops from the building entry point to the customer desk top. Responsible for the installation, movement, or removal of voice, video communications, data, and LAN circuits on the cable (adds, moves, changes). Install, de-install, maintain and repair all modems (fiber and copper), Pair Gain devices, data system drops, Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI). Maintain, repair, and test customer equipment. Maintain an accurate database of all cables, wires, terminations, routes, and other maintenance data, and make the database available to the Government and other Contractors when required to successfully integrate new capabilities and maintain reliable service. Install, de-install, maintain repair and test multiple-conductor aerial, underground, and buried multi-purpose communications cable to include coaxial, fiber optics, and copper/conventional cable. Operate digger derricks, bucket trucks, personnel lifts, backhoes, and trenching equipment to provide demand maintenance support. Maintenance responsibilities include all associated telephone poles, manholes, handholds, outside terminals, pedestals, splice points, towers, antennas, bonding and grounding of termination points. Qualified to splice fiber optic cable using both manual and fusion splicing techniques. Fabricate fiber optic, metallic or coaxial cables as requested on an LSeniorAll cable termination specifications/tolerances will be IAW Electronic Industry Association/Telecommunications Industry Association (EIA/TIA) standards. Record changes to cable drawings and records.

 

Qualifications

Minimum years is 2+ years of related experience with fiber and copper modems, Pair Gain devices, Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI), understanding of Operational Safety and Health (OSHA) policies and procedures. Experience required to splice and repair multi-pair copper cables; Minimum years of experience is dependent on job level

Manual and Fusion Fiber Optic Splice and repair multi-pair copper cables Qualified

Active Secret security clearance required
