Job Description


SAIC is seeking an exceptional Armorer to work on our AFRICAP programs in various African nations.

  Strengthening the capacity of security sector institutions across multiple African countries is fundamental to the success of AFRICAP Program supporting the US State Department.   SAIC will provide logistics training including: training and mentoring operations and maintenance (O&M); mentoring O&M personnel; driver and mechanics training; quartermaster training; small arms, ammunition, and stockpile management training; mentoring of training center staff and operations personnel.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

Basic training in small arms, ammunition, and stockpile management

Train selected military staff on various techniques associated with improving the repair and accountability of small arms reducing the need for the purchase of new weapons.

Assist country armors to conduct a detailed inventory of the weapons owned by the nations military, including weapon make/model/type, location, and condition/operability status.

Provide training to the armors on proper repair and accountability of weapons, to include inspecting, repairing primary small arms systems and advising commanders on the secure storage, and accounting and maintenance of small arms.

This position may require working in austere locations

THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON GOVT AWARD - The designated country will be identified upon receipt of DoS Task Order




High School diploma or equivalent GED.


At least 4 years as a military or civilian equivalent SME as an armorer.   Specific focus on small arms weapons repair & accountability.  Years of experience may be waived based on review of special skills and abilities.


Demonstrated success managing an arms room in the military or civilian equivalent. 


Must have worked at least one year in developing countries and able to operate in a deployed/austere atmosphere.
