SAIC is the sole provider of Systems and Software Assurance Services to the NASA Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Program located in Fairmont, West Virginia.  At the NASA Katherine Johnson IV&V Facility, we support NASA's IV&V Program, delivering analysis and verification & validation of safety-critical and mission-critical software for a number of important NASA programs, including both human and robotic exploration as well as earth and space science collection platforms.


The Cyber Engineer/Architect and Program Engineering Staff (PES) is a service delivered to senior management of the NASA Independent Validation & Verification (IV&V) Program. Services provided can influence the IV&V Program, as well broad impacts to NASA Headquarters or other NASA centers.


Cyber Engineer/Architect/PES tasks cross the technical spectrum of all work performed at the IV&V Program, from IV&V to Software and Mission Assurance (S&MA) support to cybersecurity assurance. It can also include support for management to aid in decision-making and technical understanding. 


Expertise includes:

  • Skill sets required include broad knowledge and experience in multiple facets of cybersecurity engineering and assurance (e.g. pen-test, vulnerability assessment, origin analysis, threat modeling) as well as:

  • Broad knowledge of one or more of the following (multiple preferred)
    • NASA IV&V
    • NASA S&MA
    • Systems engineering
    • Software engineering
    • Simulation and Test
    • System/software safety
    • NASA flight and ground systems
    • Program/Project management (develop and maintain schedule, risk management, reporting, etc.)
  • Ability to step in, learn quickly, and provide meaningful results in short periods of time
  • Lead, manage and collaborate with teams and individuals at all levels
  • Rapidly collect, synthesize, analyze and present data and information to decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, especially senior leadership
  • Help identify areas of need where Cyber Engineer/Architect/PES can contribute support
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Specific deliverables will be coordinated depending on the objectives of the work, but can include reports, presentations, white papers, standards documents, and research results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, mathematics or other relevant technical field with fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience in lieu of degree an additional 4 years of experience may be added
  • 8 + years or more of experience in multiple facets of cybersecurity engineering and assurance (e.g. pen-test, vulnerability assessment, origin analysis, threat modeling) 
  • Broad knowledge of one or more of the following (multiple preferred)
    • NASA IV&V
    • NASA S&MA
    • Systems engineering
    • Software engineering
    • Simulation and Test
    • System/software safety
    • NASA flight and ground systems
    • Program/Project management (develop and maintain schedule, risk management, reporting, etc.)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
