Position Description:


This position is in support of the HHS Next Generation IT Services IT Operations contract.  The Data Center Operations Manager is responsible for managing the Data Center Operations task on the overall HHS NGITS contract.  The DCO Manager reports to the Program Manager and plans, coordinates, and manages the actions taken by the team to execute all of the data center work as defined in the PWS under this time and materials performance based task. 


The Data Center responsibilities encompass 24x7x365 administration of server and storage services at two primary data centers and 13 regional offices. The environment includes both physical and ESXi hosted virtual servers running either Windows or RHEL operating systems, supported by EMC VNC and HP 3PAR storage with Avamar backups. Support is provided for patching and backups of servers with application support for Active Directory, Email, databases, web servers, middleware and other.

 
  Position Responsibilities:
  • Oversee technical and IT issues within the data center including all aspects of data center operations.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems that may be across multiple systems and subsystems requiring in depth knowledge of the highly sophisticated Data Center environment and IT infrastructure
  • Oversees effective management of computer and server operations, data entry, data security, data center security, data quality control, application performance, and management of the services and applications used for data center management.
  • Manage all Contractor data center employees and ensure successful execution of the requirements of this performance work statement.
  • Manage to appropriate service level agreements within this performance work statement and report performance to the appropriate Government staff.
  • Architect, implement, and maintain hardware and configurations.
  • Deliver stable and responsive application, server, data storage, and backup services and software for the various datacenter environments.
  • Assume a lead role in ensuring the security and compliance requirements of data center assets and protected data.
  • Direct Disaster Recovery initiatives from an infrastructure perspective including documenting recovery procedures of all critical components. 

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:
 
  • Bachelors and eighteen (18) years or more of related experience; Masters and sixteen (16) years or more experience; PhD or JD and eight years (8) or more experience.
  • One of the following certifications: PMI PgMP; PMI PMP; or FAC-P/PM.
  • Proven leader who can effectively interact with others to accomplish tasks within schedule, ability to prioritize tasks with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must possess good communication skills, be dependable, outgoing and positive with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with SLAs 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust

  • ITIL Foundations v3
  • Advanced ITIL certifications
  • Microsoft technical certifications 
  • Quality Certifications (Six Sigma, ISO, etc.)
  • Experience with Service Now
