SAIC is seeking Team Leaders (TL) for work in various African countries partnered with the US State Department's GPOI (Global Peace Operations Initiative) training program. GPOI has absorbed the Africa Contingency Operations Training and Assistance (ACOTA) program. GPOI manages the program under the Department of State's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs in collaboration with the Bureau of African Affairs/Security Assistance (AF/SA). The program provides mentoring, advising, and training support and assistance to Host Nation (HN) training centers, their cadre, and units (company to brigade size and including multi-national force headquarters) in training for peacekeeping missions. This training may include extensive field training as well as training, equipment and infrastructure support for the training center and its staff and instructors.
Positions are located in English and non-English speaking countries. Foreign language (primarily French) capability is highly desired for consideration in non-English speaking locations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The TL serves as the Program Manager’s primary point of contact for contract execution, coordination, and management of GPOI task order activities in the respective African country. The TL is the primary interface with the US Embassy, Host Nation military leadership, US military and international trainers, and other stakeholders associated with task order execution. The TL manages personnel assignments across training tasks; maintains professional standards of accountability, quality, and effectiveness; monitors conduct and discipline and tracks the movement of his or her team members traveling to, working in, and departing from the host country; and ensures the conduct and quality of all task order activities.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of military operations experience, which includes service after September 11, 2001.
Attainment of military grade of E9 or O-4 and higher,
Demonstrated experience as a senior mentor/advisor to a senior foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building and unit-level assessments.
Relevant military operations or foreign security force (police or military) training experience in the last 5 years.
Regional Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
For francophone countries, French language proficiency (2:2)
Experience as trained and certified Foreign Area Officer (FAO) with regionally focused expertise, including in an Office of Security Cooperation or DoD Attaché Office and/or
Commanded a combat arms battalion level unit (combat arms is defined as armor, cavalry, engineer, field artillery, or special forces) in the U.S. or NATO military land forces that will allow that individual to best support the task order objectives and goals while mentoring the training center staff, battalion staff, and battalion leadership and/or
Experience in a U.S. or NATO military training and doctrine development organization, or permanent assignment to a U.S. or foreign military training school or combat training center.
