Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Senior Cloud Computing Engineer to join their team in Aberdeen, MD. The Senior Cloud Computing Engineer will assist the architecture team in design, plan, and integration review for movement of software elements to the cloud.

The Senior Cloud Computing Engineer will assist in the review and recommendation of hardware and software selection implementation techniques as well as application & data migration techniques. Using their expertise, the Senior Cloud Computing Engineer will recommend tools for the most efficient solution to accomplish Army requirements and provide a clean flow for the SAP based system.


  • Maintains technical expertise relevant to industry standards and in cloud computing and virtualization technologies such as cloud service provider architecture, design, and configuration

  • Evaluates and reports on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance capabilities of cloud-based and virtualized services

  • Provide systems engineering activities such as: Concept of Operations Formulation, Requirements Definition, Analysis and Engineering, System Architecting, System Analysis and Design, Interface and Data Architectures, Validation and Verification, System Integration, System & Op. Performance Analysis, Lifecycle Cost Analysis & Estimation, Decision Analysis and Physical Configuration Analysis (PCA)

  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to meet customer requirements

  • Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts


Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.

Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Ability to obtain and maintain and Public Trust security clearance. 

Desired Qualifications


  • 5+ years of experience working with Commercial Cloud Providers such as AWS, Azure, etc. a required, with preference to experience/certifications in multiple cloud platforms.
  • In depth experience in architecting, migrating and managing of cloud environments in accordance with Department of Defense compliance guidelines and constraints.
  • At least three large scale enterprise cloud migration project lifecycle experiences.
  • Experience with SAP applications, including the following: ECC, SCM, LiveCache, BW, BW Java, PI/PO, SLT/sidecar, EWM, SolMan, GRC, EP, CAMS/MII, C-Folders, NWDI, BOBJ, Data Services, Information Steward, TREX, Fiori/Fiori Launchpad, Splunk, Remedy, ServiceNow, Rev-Trac, ChaRM, and SAProuter
  • Experience with Database technologies, including the following: SAP HANA, Oracle and MS SQL Server.
  • Experience with system architecture reviews, enterprise standards and guideline development, and implementing applications in a production cloud environment.
  • Experience in assessment of current architecture, design the future cloud architecture and develop a roadmap to implement  
  • Experience in architecture, design, and configuration of High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Scalability in cloud environments
  • Strong understanding of platform, network, security and storage components in a cloud environment working with VM Engines, Storage services, Network components such as Load Balancer, VPN etc.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, ability to adapt to new environments quickly, capable of maintaining positive and productive working relationships in independent, and team environments.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
