System Administrator

SAIC is hiring System Administrator to support a civilian government agency.  Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Federal Public Trust clearance.

Job Description: The successful candidate is responsible for supporting the functionality and efficiency of one or more operating systems. Duties may include;  setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation,  installing system wide software, validating and implementing critical system patches, interact with users, evaluates vendor products, makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery of end user hardware.  

Exercises independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and criteria for obtaining results. Investigates and selects methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to difficult issues, ensures project schedules, and performance requirements are met.   Works under limited direction. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments.

The systems Administrator performs the following duties:

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of 2300 plus Windows IT systems.

  • Perform Patch management duties to include: maintaining current knowledge of available patches, deciding which patches are appropriate for particular systems, ensuring that patches are installed properly, testing systems after installation, and documenting all associated procedures.

  • Identifies, manages, and monitors for vulnerabilities that may impact compliancy requirements and change management procedures.

  • Performs day-to-day activities required to create/distribute Windows application and software packages using IBM BigFix.

  • Perform quarterly duties of updating\distributing windows 10 Operating System images.

  • Day-to-day experience using Microsoft Active Directory to manage computer and user objects.

  • Participate in Engineering Review Board meetings for process changes.

  • Actively Manage tickets using Service Now and provide status updates on each ticket per SLA.

  • Perform Continuous improvement to automate tasks and create documentation.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related field and 3+ years' experience or 7 years of related experience.

US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Federal Public Trust clearance.

Extensive experience with deploying, configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft OS (Windows 10), Active Directory, and Microsoft Office 365. Viewed as a well-developed technical resource capable of handling moderately complex assignment.

Desired Qualifications

 


Experience with end point management tools such as IBM's Big Fix, InTune or SCCM.

Experience with scripting and packaging software.

Experience creating, testing, deploying and managing computer images (Microsoft MDT)

Experience using a ticketing system such as Service Now.

Excellent written and communication skills required; excellent customer service experience.

Experience of security policies and basic vulnerabilities management.

Experience with Mobile Device (IPhone)

Apple MAC computer and mobile device experience a plus
