Position Description:

The Enterprise & Mission Solution Business Unit currently has an opening for a Mainframe System Administrator to support a Department of State (DoS) Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM) program. This program provides transparent, interconnected systems and security supporting the DoS in successfully carrying out its U.S. foreign policy mission. IRM provides enterprise architecture design, engineering, operations and maintenance support services for desktops, servers, networks, firewalls, and enterprise applications across the Department. Program is named "Vanguard" and is an IT consolidation consisting of the Department's servers, mainframes, network devices, network perimeter, anti-virus engineering, public key infrastructure (PKI)/biometrics/encryption, monitoring tools, telephony, mobile computing platform, virtual environment, and enclave design/security engineering.

 

This is a senior level position within the Vanguard Service Management Office (SMO), providing Tier 2 support for financial payroll programs running on an IBM mainframe.  The position directly supports DoS on-site to provide perimeter security protection to over 80,000 customers globally.

 
Description of Duties:
  • Provide customer support and system troubleshooting for the DoS Mainframe payroll system.
  • Service Remedy trouble tickets related to the DoS Mainframe payroll system.
  • Support testing and verification for OS releases and system patches.
  • Draft technical test reports, standard operating procedures, and system documentation.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:
Bachelors and five (5) years of experience
 
Required Experience/Skills/Attributes:  
  • Experience with the following applications: web-based applications, Microsoft Office software such as Outlook and Remedy Help Desk Ticket Tracker.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience with ACF2 and ACF2/CICS.
  • Familiar working in z/OS operating system environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of TSO, ISPF, JCL, CICS.
  • Good customer skills.
  • Knowledge of CA-Scheduler, ETF/A, TMON/OMEGAMON, CA-Examine, and Remedy is desirable.
Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes:
  • ITIL ® Foundation certification.

Clearance Requirement: 

Candidate must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain an interim secret clearance
