SAIC is currently seeking a Sr. Editor/Technical Writer supporting Nuclear Matters Program.

Job Description:  Senior editor/technical writer to draft technical papers and edit, revise and format staff action packages, publications and supporting documentation prepared by senior policy analysts for the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense Programs. 

Position requires ability to edit for adherence to executive level unique writing style employing OSD established format, punctuation and the proper use of military terminology. 

This position requires conversion of documents to various electronic media for distribution purposes.  

Candidate will work in the Pentagon with a majority of effort supporting documentation preparation and technical writing supporting national oversight bodies to include the Nuclear Weapons Council, the Nuclear Deterrent Enterprise Risk Group and the Serious Incident Response Council.  Reports from these bodies are addressed to the President, Congress and leaders across the interagency.


  • Bachelor’s degree in English, History or similar field and three (3) or more years of experience is required; or masters degree and one (1) or more years of experience.
  • Exposure to a scientific, engineering or technical field required
  • Ability to draft for senior policy decision makers technical documents on highly classified and complex scientific, engineering and technical topics/subjects.  
  • Excellent writing skills and an in-depth knowledge of editorial principles and techniques.  
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Adobe Acrobat is necessary. 
  • OSD working experience with knowledge of DoD processes and ‘how the government works’.  
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • All applicants for this position must have an active Top Secret clearance and be eligible for SCI adjudication. 
  • Must be able to work at customer site at the Pentagon in support of senior management or Executives with little supervision for sustained periods.
