The Defense Systems Group of SAIC is currently seeking an OCONUS Field Engineer to support its Force Protection operations in the Southwest Asia.
The candidate will provide systems networking support to Force Protection programs and capabilities that will be fielded and sustained OCONUS. Support the hardware and software network management of Force Protection Systems. Familiarity with Full Motion Video (FMV)/Microwave Line of Sight (MLoS) networking is required. Must be familiar with MLoS measures and point-to-point radio and network switch emplacement/utilization of technology to meet Warfighter needs. The candidate will assist with implementation and optimization of hardware and/or software products at customer sites including oversight and support of existing hardware, software, network configurations and new system initiatives for all sites within area of responsibility. Installation of software maintenance releases or hardware upgrades including the oversight of the installation process and test procedures to diagnose and resolve network performance problems at installation. Verification of connectivity across platforms is required. Support configuration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of wired and wireless networks that provide sensor connectivity to command posts and command post software. Assist in applying appropriate safeguards to ensure that fielded information systems and networks are defended to maintain integrity, availability, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation. The candidate will perform extensive troubleshooting to determine faults within the system. Climbing permanent towers up to 180 feet in height is required as well as successfully completing Comtrain Tower Safety & Rescue. First Aid certification is required to climb towers at certain locations.
Requires in-depth customer interaction with military units on the ground during site visits. Must possess on-the-spot decision making. The candidate will also be required to assist with the movement of equipment from storage sites to outlying install locations.
Must meet DoD Height/Weight standards. Must currently possess a SECRET security clearance. Must satisfactorily complete CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) requirements, including medical and dental requirements prior to deployment. Must be able to lift 97 pounds occasionally and 73 pounds frequently. Must meet DoD Height/Weight standards. Must be willing to live and work in austere, hostile environment for extended periods.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years experience (equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree)
- Must possess hardware installation and custom software troubleshooting skills.
- Must have 6-8 years of direct experience in areas of installing, maintaining and accounting for networking mobile towers with MLoS and other payloads, and other Force Protection equipment programs.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
DESIRED CERTIFICATION: DoD 8570.01-Manual Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level I or higher.
