SAIC is looking for a talented Configuration Manager to provide support on our GSA COMET contract. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience ensuring CM best practices are proposed, evaluated, and implemented using a standardized, systematic approach that ensures consistency, and proposed changes are evaluated in terms of their anticipated impact on the entire system. The candidate will verify that changes are carried out as prescribed in standard operating procedures and that documentation of items and systems reflects their true configuration, while being the team liaison to address architecture, operations, security and business impacts. They will support a complete CM program to include provisions for the storing, tracking, and updating of all system information on a component, subsystem, and system basis. 


This position allows for a combination of onsite and remote work. Candidate must be located in the DC metro area in order to be onsite 3 days per week. 


Responsibilities
  • Prepare Change Request artifacts for weekly Change Control Board (CCB) meetings.
  • Work with the development and business users to capture and document all aspects of change requests.
  • Work across the enterprise to coordinate with the various stakeholders. 
  • Attend CCB meetings to ensure the approval of CRs while representing the development team in all aspects.
  • Describe provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.
  • Carry out procedures to ensure that all information systems, products and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirements.
  • Report progress on problem resolution to management.
  • Perform workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements.
  • Support the use of configuration management tools to store, track and manage configuration items. 
  • Work with the program developers to troubleshoot and resolve build issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform independent reviews of hardware and software to assess compliance with established performance requirements and organizational CM standards.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
  • 4-6 years of relevant Information Technology experience required.
  • 2-3 years of experience supporting CM practices with specific technology skills such as JAVA, Relational Databases, Unix and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience in code baseline using SVN (Subversion) repositories, and code build using Jenkins jobs (mid-senior)
  • Experience in Unix/Linux commands (beginner-mid)
  • Demonstrated experience and success supporting Government client for complex IT support services delivery efforts in similar role.
  • Capable of determining the functional relation between parts, subsystems, and systems for effectively controlling system change. Verifies that proposed changes are systematically considered to minimize adverse effects.
  • Demonstrated ability ensuring that documentation (e.g., requirements, design, test, and acceptance documentation) for items is accurate and consistent with the actual physical design of the item.
  • Ability to handle changes systematically maintaining system integrity over time. CM implements the policies, procedures, techniques, and tools that manage, evaluate proposed changes, track the status of changes, and maintain an inventory of system and support documents as the system changes.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in Software Configuration and change management processes and implementation across different environments (Dev, Test, Prod).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work across organizations.
  • In-depth understanding of the software development life cycle for implementing Enterprise level systems.
