Job Description

Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: PM CCWS (PM TAGM as of 14 Jan) has the need for multiple missile engineers in support of our Javelin and TOW products.  Both programs are ACAT IC programs that are in full-rate production with multiple product improvements to address new capabilities as well as obsolescence redesigns.  Engineering efforts cover the spectrum of the systems (missile, ground optical systems/launchers, and integration onto platforms).  Both systems have significant FMS activity requiring engineering evaluation and coordination.

Candidates will be expected to perform a wide variety of activities in support of the full spectrum of engineering activities.  At the core are the requirement to process subject matter expertise in one or more of the component technologies, ability to operate with minimum oversight to include time management, interpersonal skills to work in a dynamic government/prime environment, written and verbal communication skills, a desire and ability to solve both technical as well as programmatic problems, and a focus on results.

Due to the dynamic nature of the environment, tasking will vary but key tasks/areas include:
  • Provide expertise on missile subsystem components (seekers, guidance algorithms, electronics, navigation hardware, tactical software development, tracking, aerodynamics, CAS, EO/IR imaging systems, RF datalinks, warheads, lethality, fuze, missile modeling, and platform integration).

  • Participate and monitor prime contractor activity to represent CCWS engineering in technical discussions and coarse of actions development and recommendations.  This includes asking pertinent questions, assessing risks, evaluating options, and ultimately articulating the recommendations with associated risks to those with appropriate engineering judgement for decision makers.
  • Develop solutions, recommendations and COA to system related problems in development, production, and sustainment.
  • Develop and maintain artifacts to communicate and facilitate the management of technical items.
  • Research and develop recommendations on engineering topics related to Army and DoD regulations, contract requirements, standards, etc.
  • Develop and evaluate process, methodologies, etc. to ensure that activities are created more effectively and efficiently
  • Coordinate with government agencies, test ranges, etc. to accomplish the CCWS product missions and tasking
  • Active participation in failure review boards, design reviews, test readiness reviews, and other technical reviews.
  • Develop, review, participate, and coordinate test activities and demonstrations for developmental test, qualification, DOT&E oversight, and failure investigations.
  • Ability to research and learn about areas not in the candidates area of expertise sufficiently to represent technical assessments of risk, feasibility, and to provide basic oversight
  • Knowledge of test and qualification standards to include interactions with appropriate test ranges and applicability of MIL-STDs.  This includes an ability to evaluate new approaches to meet mission instead of depending solely on how it has been accomplished in the past.
  • Development and use of metrics to track and evaluate work.
  • Evaluation and monitoring of resource loaded schedules and appropriate metrics associated with best practice (to include but not limited to EVMS).
  • Development, review and staffing of systems engineering documentation.
  • Briefing of product material to both government and contractor personnel
  • Review of technical material and applicable FMS documentation with coordination of changes to meet office intent with associated recommendations when necessary

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 2 years of experience.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Prior experience with missile systems a plus (guided missiles/guided systems, seekers, integrated missile systems, FLIR, fire control, etc.)

Desired Qualifications
