SAIC supports the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in providing specialized training, advisory and mentoring services to host nations under the Criminal Division’s International Criminal Investigative Training and Assistance Program (ICITAP). [https://www.justice.gov/criminal-icitap] ICITAP is a cornerstone of America’s global strategy for combating transnational crime, terrorism, countering trafficking in persons, establishing rule of law and enhancing human rights in developing countries. SAIC is the contract service provider to the DOJ ICITAP and Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) programs. For over a decade, SAIC has fielded hundreds of highly skilled criminal justice professionals supporting ICITAP and OPDAT.
SAIC is seeking highly qualified personnel to serve as forensics advisors (FAs) with expertise in sexual assault and intimate/domestic violence nursing. The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Advising and mentoring host country officials on the best practices for establishing, organizing, staffing, training, equipping, socializing, sustaining and integrating a sexual assault forensic victim services capacity among medical and police service agencies.
Advising and training host country officials on examination, collection, reservation, analysis and presentation of evidence gathered from victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse.
Advise host country officials on best practices for sexual assault evidentiary management as distinguished between adult/adolescent and pediatric victims.
Work with various US officials from Departments of State (DoS) and Justice (DOJ).
Facilitating meetings; leading working groups; developing reports and specialized papers; reviewing and editing policies; manuals and Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs); conducting briefings; and, active participation in advising officials.
Minimum of 15 years of progressively increasing responsibility in nursing experience
Minimum of 5 years of related experience as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)
Minimum of 2 years of experience advising or training foreign officials on medical forensic or sexual assault/abuse related topics
Experience in training and advising medical practitioners, law enforcement officials, administrators, prosecutors, mental health practitioners, or judges on the sexual assault forensic examination and evidentiary management practices
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related medical fields from a US Department of Education recognized institution
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by one or more of the US cognizant Boards of Nursing (BONs) statutorily responsible for the regulation of nursing practice within the state, territory or District of Columbia.
Professional Certification as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Adult/Adolescent (SANE-A®) or a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Pediatric (SANE-P®) through the Commission for Forensic Nursing Certification (CFNC)
Continuing education demonstrated through publications, presentations, coursework, internships, or certifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust certification from the U.S. DOJ; and,Possession of valid U.S. Passport.
