Join SAIC’s team in support of the missions of the USTRANSCOM Enterprise Data and Analytics Environment. This is new work to create a scalable, cloud-based Enterprise Data Environment for all military and commercial mission partners; to leverage that environment with adaptive Big Data Analytics technologies, including descriptive/predictive analytics, machine leaning & artificial intelligence; and then to transform, extend, and optimize the data environment for USTRANSCOM’s consumers and deciders.
Senior Cloud Computing Engineer designs, plans, and integrates cloud computing and virtualization systems. Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, cloud service provider selection, implementation techniques, application & data migration techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Develops and conducts testing of cloud and virtualization systems. Maintains technical expertise relevant industry standards and in cloud computing and virtualization technologies such as cloud service provider architecture, design, and configuration; cloud deployment models including public, community, private, and hybrid; cloud service delivery models including infrastructure-, platform-, and software-as-a-service; automation; hypervisors; containers; virtual compute, storage, and networks; virtual infrastructure management; self-provisioning; and scaling. Evaluates and reports on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance capabilities of cloud-based and virtualized services. May also provide systems engineering activities such as: Concept of Operations Formulation, Requirements Definition, Analysis and Engineering, System Architecting, System Analysis and Design, Interface and Data Architectures, Validation and Verification, System Integration, System & Op. Performance Analysis, Lifecycle Cost Analysis & Estimation, Decision Analysis and Physical Configuration Analysis (PCA) . Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Information Systems with minimum 8 years related experience. Other technical degrees, certifications and total experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
US citizen, with active DoD Secret clearance. (Viable candidates with the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance may be considered.)
Relevant systems administration, architecture, virtualization, and environment provisioning/engineering work in multiple on-prem/cloud instances and technologies.
Relevant certifications in information security/engineering (e.g., CISSP, Security +) and professional or practitioner cloud (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Azure).
Experience working with scheduling, performance, fielding, compliance with DOD IT standards, and security and accreditation.
Knowledge of DoD, USTRANSCOM and service component (i.e., Army, Air Force, Navy) logistics operations, transportation systems data, and experience with applicable IT technologies.
Experience working in/leading Agile methodology Scrum software development teams.
Applicable certifications in agile development (e.g., Certified Scrummaster, Scaled Agile) and data sciences/tools supporting tools like R/RStudio, Python and SQL.
