Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated professionals in El Segundo, CA who assist the US Air Force in developing and deploying the next generation of satellites and ground systems for missile warning (MW) and environmental monitoring (EM). These systems alert senior military officials when missile launches occur around the globe, as well as enable global naval vessel and troop movements by providing mission-critical weather data to ensure safe passage. Our Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) team has an immediate need for a Lead Systems Engineer. The successful candidate will assist the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager in providing technical leadership and vision across the entire SE&I contract. He or she will also work with the Capability Area Chief Engineers for MW and SBEM to provide consistent technical direction that enforces the broader vision and strategic objectives of the SE&I team.
Major duties of the position include:
Ensuring successful execution of MW and EM systems engineering, integration, test, transition to operations, operations, and sustainment activities
Leveraging enterprise level systems engineering and integration processes to manage operational transition and fielding of a multi-segment complex system
Performing technical reviews and assessments, coordinating analyses efforts, methods and techniques, and developing products and briefings for review with government customers, stakeholders, and other contractors
Supporting the customer in defining, capturing, assessing and maintaining the technical, schedule, and cost risk data throughout the system lifecycle; and developing risk mitigation courses of action
Collaborating with Government Capability Area Integrators to ensure consistency in approach and quality of deliverables, to include processes, model-based systems engineering (MBSE) development, trade studies, technical baseline artifacts, integration products and all documentation
Interfacing and collaborating with SE&I team members, prime contractors, other team contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Air Force
Master’s Degree in Math, Science or Engineering with 15+ Years of demonstrated system engineering and integration experience with space, ground, operations and sustainment segments of DoD or NRO programs with a proven delivery record or a Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Science or Engineering with 17+ Years of demonstrated experience.
Experience leading systems engineering activities in the development, transition to operations, operations and sustainment of complex satellite systems
Knowledge of the system development lifecycle, project integration, schedule analysis, risk management and stakeholder processes
Demonstrated experience working with Air Force/DoD customers in an acquisition environment, with space and/or ground systems.
Experience providing technical analyses, architecture trade-studies, and program management support to a government customer.
Extremely motivated individual who is a self-starter and a team player, comfortable with matrixed organizations and leading through influence across multiple organizations.
Ability to think critically, synthesize information from multiple sources into comprehensive plans
Proactive engineer who takes the initiative to identify, own and solve customer problems.
Experience writing and delivering technical documents and briefings.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams.
