SAIC has an immediate need for a Telecommunications Specialist to support the NASA Integrated Communications Services (NICS) contract at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.  The NICS contract provides high quality integrated communications services for secure voice, video and data solutions and services to NASA customers worldwide.

The role of Telecommunications Specialist is to provide Administrative support related to the LaRC Telephone system as well as the network at LaRC.  The Telecommunications Specialist will determine customer's voice and data requirements for requested Move, Add and Change services. The ideal candidate will also facilitate Cable Plant, Telephone and Network software changes by generating work orders.  Demonstrate the use and features of the telephone systems to customers.  Provide Langley telephone operator services.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Telecommunications Specialist responsibilities to include Issuing work orders for Moves, Adds and Changes for Avaya and Cisco VoIP telephones.  Issue work orders for Moves, Adds and Changes for LAN (network) connections.  Consult with users on telephone and network related questions.  Monitor BMC Remedy queue, receive Remedy tickets and assign Remedy tickets to appropriate groups for processing.  Assign, update, and delete records in IPAM/DDI.  Ability to communicate and interact effectively with NICS customers.  Provide Operator services to NASA Langley Research Center.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with large-scale network/telephone and cable plants.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience using computer office automation software. 
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers and staff. 
  • High School Diploma or GED

 

Specific Skill or Knowledge Requirements:

Knowledge of Telecommunications Systems.  Nortel PBX and Cisco VoIP Call Manager and Unity Connection.
