SAIC is hiring a HPC Systems Engineer / Integrator Principle to join our team at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio!


Program Requirement

As leader in the exciting and growing field of High Performance Computing (HPC), SAIC is searching for a System Integrator to join our team supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program (DoD HPCMP) located at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH


Primary Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be a member of the Advanced Technologies Team (ATT) focused on the design, maintenance, and implementation of leading-edge technology solutions for the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC).
  • As part of the team, there will be customer engagement to develop system requirements, documentation to include whitepaper assessments, and hardware/software procurement.
  • In addition to being a member of the ATT, the successful candidate may also participate as a team member in support of larger program-wide technology activities.


Additional duties include:

  • Translating the client’s business requirements into specific systems, applications or process designs for very large complex High Performance Computing (HPC) solutions and integrating architecture environments with leading edge compute, network, and storage technologies.
  • Performing analysis of transition planning, intelligence information requirements, and may develop architecture baselines.
  • Assisting with and leading development of integration, migration plans/schedules.
  • Creating and maintaining the architecture for the business process domain ensuring alignment with the organization's information technology priorities
  • Developing and submitting high level architectural expertise and deliverables for the technical staff and enterprise
  • Developing strategy of system and design infrastructure necessary to support that strategy
  • Advising on selection of technological purchases with regards to processing, data storage, data access, applications development, and systems
  • Advising management on feasibility of potential projects
  • Coordinating development efforts across multiple organizations
  • Establishing requirements, design specifications, timelines, and integration path for project
  • Identifying systems and/or applications that will improve center functions/processes
  • Integration of new technologies
  • Soliciting, collecting, and evaluating vendor proposals
  • Providing and exercising comparative selection criteria for new technology selection
  • Developing and implementing integration plan for new technology components
  • Organizing site preparation
  • Developing and implementing test plans
  • Aiding  in the installation and configuration of the new technology




  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.  Additional experience in lieu of degree may be substituted.



  • Top Secret clearance at a minimum.  Ability to obtain a TS/SCI required.



  • This position may need to provide after-hours support and respond to emergency situations and resolve problems. 
  • Potential for 10% travel



  • 5-7 years of experience in supporting networking, storage and system design
  • LINUX/UNIX/Windows experience
  • Technical project management  or application development management experience to include managing multiple projects while communicating schedule, cost, and performance 
  • Strong customer focus and proven ability to manage and help shape customer
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers, management personnel, and team members, including documentation and writing skills
  • Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work in a dynamic work environment, and persistence to follow-through on tasks in the face of obstacles
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-faceted team, and leadership skills to guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel
  • Experience with MS Visio desired but not required
  • DoD 8570 certification, i.e. Security+ and OS certification, Linux+, RedHat, etc desired but not required
