Join SAIC’s team in support of the missions of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). As the surface transportation component of the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), SDDC’s primary functions include worldwide port operations, global traffic management, deployability engineering, and development of integrated transportation systems. The SAIC team will support to the System Development, Maintenance, and Sustainment for the Global Freight Management (GFM) System through transformational, high quality software for GFM-related transportation systems and effectively reporting results, in order for SDDC to make critical implementation decisions.
Senior database architect / engineer establishes database management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy. Working with teammates and clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the client’s entity relationship and flow of data including: developing the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the model. Makes recommendations to maximize operating efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, ensures recovery is maintained. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors. Interacts with other contractor/Government personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Experience across multiple databases and management systems (e.g., relational, multivariable including Oracle 12 and/or Unidata 7 [or higher]), operating systems, interfaces, and technology stacks.
Experience supporting Agile methodology Scrum software development teams. Department of Defense experience preferred.
Experience scheduling, performance, fielding, and compliance with DOD and Army IT standards, and security and accreditation.
Experience with the transition of enterprise applications, interfaces and databases from multiple on-prem environments to a cloud environment.
Knowledge of USTRANSCOM and SDDC operations, and experience with IT technologies like Common Development Environment (CDE), EDI, and/or enterprise military logistics software like GFM, GATES, ETA/TEAMS, etc.
Applicable leadership/technical certifications, including cloud (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Azure) professional or practitioner certifications.
