Job Description



SAIC is looking for a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer to join the team in Crane, IN to support the US Navy. The Electrical Engineer will be part of the IR/IF Systems Technologies Division and will assist in flight test planning support. The Electrical Engineer must possess excellent data analysis, signal processing, data reduction, technical writing, project management, and problem solving skills to perform this position. The Electrical Engineer will be assisting in creating test plans and procedures, implementing, and monitoring tests, results and data collection and preparing reports to be presented to the Government customer.

Job Duties:
  • Supports PMA272 follow-on test efforts, test events, and program meetings  
  • Provides Engineering Technical Support, test plan documentation, and data analysis for the DAIRCM Programs
  • Assists in the planning and coordinating of T&E meetings  
  • Coordinates and works with the Operational Test engineers to provide resources to support the follow on test phases  
  • Coordinates costs and schedules availability with the flight test ranges; to include but not limited to Eglin, China Lake, Yuma, and Hot Springs, to support MH-60S flight test  
  • Supports the planning and coordination of live fire/missile warning testing
  • Manages munitions in storage and maintains a detailed list of MANPADS and Hostile Fire assets available at Letterkenny and China Lake to support missile live fire events
  • Modifies ADS as required to support live fire testing
  • Maintains and updates as needed PMA272 munitions allocations/expendables for test
  • Develops and updates systems, subsystems, equipment, and component test plans and SOPs while ensuring they are in compliance with contract requirements
  • Plans, schedules, executes, and evaluates the testing of systems, subsystems, equipment, and components as well as provides technical support for the technologies used
  • Monitors equipment used in testing to ensure all approved procedures are approved and followed and ensures all data is collected and assimilated as needed after testing is complete
  • Compiles raw data into reports that includes recommendations to correct any issues and suggests improvements
  • May be called upon to attend meetings, reviews, or conferences to present data and documentation
About this Contract: The IR/IF Systems Technologies Division conducts research and development for pyrotechnic and countermeasure devices in support of the Navy, Air Force, Army, and Joint Strike Fighter. The primary mission is to promote the self-protection of aircraft, vessels, and vehicles and includes, but is not limited to Infrared Technology, lasers, and electronic warfare research and development. 


  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or similar and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in related test planning tasking in a research and development environment (Required)
  • Demonstrable data analysis, technical writing, and project management skills (Required)
  • Intermediate to Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. To receive and respond to instructions/assignments, must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as a part of a team
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

 Experience supporting NSWC Crane or Navy, Army, and/or Air Force is aircraft is highly desired.
