JOB DESCRIPTION:  Responsibilities may include analyze and review designs and test plans, processes, procedures, functional and data requirements analysis, system analysis, and documentation preparation for complex systems. Areas of specialization include Guidance and Navigation systems, control systems, communications systems, digital communication protocol, electrical power distribution, control and transmission devices, signal processing, Instrumentation, electromagnetic compatibility and interference, electrical interfaces, avionics electronics, and Electrical Ground Support Equipment. Other areas of specialization include test tools, engines, mechanical devices, turbines, propulsion and fluids, Materials and Properties, contamination control, ordnance, Mechanical Ground Support Systems, life support systems, and environmental control. 
Engineering disciplines that may map into this Standardized Labor Classification include electrical, avionics, computer, safety, reliability, mechanical, aerospace, propulsion, industrial, materials, environmental, structures, thermal, fluids, safety, reliability, systems and quality. 
Individual must possess thorough working knowledge of space launch systems and processes.  Individuals in this role must have a thorough understanding of launch vehicle processes and practices, launch site preparations flow and day-of-launch procedures. Also, the individual must have a general understanding of the NSSL vehicle launch interface requirements, launch transportation and processing requirements. 

Could perform Systems Engineering activities related to Information Technology or Engineering including: concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system & op. performance analysis,  Lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis (PCA) . Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications. Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. From an information technology perspective, may be concerned with floor layout, power & cooling, data storage, infrastructure management, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in a STEM field and nine (9) years or more experience with two (2) years experience in the National Space Security Launch area; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience with two (2) years experience in the National Space Security Launch area; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience with two (2) years experience in the National Space Security Launch area.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in a STEM field and nine (9) years or more experience with five (5) years experience in the National Space Security Launch area; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience with five (5) years experience in the National Space Security Launch area.
