Job Description


We are seeking an Office 365 Messaging Administrator to join our team. This is a key role within the Enterprise Infrastructure Systems IT Office, primarily supporting and maintaining Microsoft Exchange 2016 on-premise systems while helping the organization transition into a Hybrid Office 365 cloud environment leveraging Exchange Online and Teams. Responsibilities will include day to day administration, license management and deployment of  messaging related services within the Office 365 platform, along with providing technical support, problem management and maintenance of the Office 365 tenant from a messaging perspective.

  • Support the administration of the MS Exchange 2016 on-premises environment and configuration of a hybrid Office 365 environment
  • Lead project planning activity to ensure timely and successful completion of Exchange Online and Teams deployment
  • Assist with the migration of large volumes of data into the cloud platform
  • Create and maintain Office 365 messaging related best practices documentation
  • Provide knowledge transfer and create/deliver training for Exchange Online and Teams
  • Handle certificate updates, troubleshoot and resolve mail routing issues
  • Troubleshoot system issues and outages; provide Tier III support to other ITO teams
  • System security, including adherence to documented processes and procedures and compliance auditing
  • Track and escalate incidents with Office 365 technical support
  • Install, configure, test and maintain application software and system management tools
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Work closely with the Directory Services Administrator regarding directory issues impacting Office 365
  • Maintain security, backup and redundancy strategies
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower administrative intervention time where possible
  • Coordinate with vendors and other ITO personnel for problem resolution
  • Create and maintain documentation of standard operating procedures and protocols
  • As Office 365 subject matter expert, you would stay abreast of standards, best practices and changes to the product line
  • Recommend information technology standards, policies and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements
  • Collaborate with team members, customers and management to determine project goals, schedules and budgets; communicate vital information to project team members and stakeholders
  • Practical knowledge and experience deploying Exchange Online/Teams
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory configuration and administration, including Azure AD, DNS, DHCP
  • Proficient with PowerShell and other scripting skills
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, including routing, switching, OSI network layers and internet protocols
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to partner well with internal and external business partners
  • Must be able to take ownership of areas of responsibility and make recommendations and decisions on the improvement and operation of those areas
  • Solid professional and customer service skills
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Must be comfortable interacting with management at various levels in a professional manner



Education & Certification: 

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology related field or equivalent Information Technology experience

Certification - MCSA: Office 365 or MCSE: Messaging preferred


  • 5 years Information Technology experience with at least 3 years supporting Exchange
  • 3 years of relevant Office 365 administration experience (Exchange Online, Teams, etc.) preferred.
