SAIC has an opportunity for a Lead Electo-Optical & Infrared (EO/IR) Engineer
to work with our advanced IR projection/sensor technology group. SAIC evaluates next generations Electo-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) sensor systems for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Eglin AFB, FL.
We develop technical solutions to complex problems which requires ingenuity and creativity to evaluate next generations Electo-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) sensor systems for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Apply your optics expertise to the full life-cycle systems engineering process for Infrared projector technologies.
Perform engineering review and analysis of vendor deliverables (e.g. drawings, designs, reports) related to requirements analysis, interface design, system design, and system performance.
Support formal Government technical reviews, including Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), System Verification Review (SVR) and Physical Configuration Audit (PCA).
Collaborate with various team members to resolve system engineering issues and actions.
Candidate will work closely with government engineers to coordinate research activities and testing of IR Projector technology.
Provides guidance to the engineers and scientists on successful direction of research to obtain positive outcomes.
Provide extensive analysis of emerging IR projector technologies developed by Universities, Gov personnel and other contractors, and provides recommended technical solutions to the government. - Experience in the one of the following areas:
Infrared projector technologies: resistor arrays, infrared light emitting diodes, carbon nanotube arrays - Optical alignment - Optical system analysis (Zemax, Code V)
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Optics, or equivalent.
- 9 years of experience directly related to job description and responsibilities
- Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of the algorithm development and image processing for at least one of the following: Matlab, Python, and/or C++
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
