JOB DESCRIPTION:  


SAIC is seeking a Senior Project Manager to be an integral part of a large program for a Federal customer supporting the customer mission. This position will be based in Dallas and will support multiple locations including Dallas, Washington DC, Kansas City and various other locations. Some travel will be required.


This position will support of a group of Federal customers by providing project management support in the day to day operations of their organization. This new role will organize and coordinate various activities, helping the customer meet their business commitments and deadlines. The successful candidate will work with the most senior level resources in the organization to define this new role and deploy across the organization.  They will leverage their project management and business process improvement expertise to identify new ways of organizing work and identify opportunities to off load work from key staff enabling them to concentrate their efforts on higher priority items.  This new role will be responsible for beta testing of new approaches, processes and project management tools, and potentially deployment of the changes across the organization as successes in achieving efficiencies are proven. The successful candidate will become a key contributor in the organization in helping them meet their deadlines and commitments, yet the processes needs to be defined in a manner that the successful candidate does not become a single point of failure.


Solutions will include creating project plans, scheduling work, organizing and tracking work across multiple organization, identifying and managing issues and risks and reporting progress to the most senior levels. Solutions may include defining the need for additional resources. The ability to work with varying levels of staff, in multiple organizations, in multiple geographic areas will be required, while adjusting to accommodate their individual needs and competing priorities. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, organizational skills and a proven record of success are critical. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively works with all levels of customer leadership, being a superior communicator, with excellent written, verbal, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Facilitates change while ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Identifies area for process improvement utilizing project management techniques, related to the scope of work defined by the organization’s leadership.
  • Assesses current processes and operational requirements to develop frameworks and project management tools to manage and organize work.
  • Has proven experience in deploying organizational change which has led to increased organizational effectiveness.
  • Uses changes management expertise to roll out new tools, techniques and processes across the organization.
  • Is astute in understanding the unique needs and requirements of individuals considered experts in their various fields of responsibility.
  • Understands the various project management tools and methods and is able to deploy them in a variety of situations.
  • Mentors less experienced individuals in the project management discipline.
  • Manages the development of integrated project plans and schedules.
  • Communicates and coordinates execution of project plans.
  • Ensures completion of project plans to meet organizational commitments and deadlines.
  • Manages issues and risks while keeping management apprised of current status, escalating issues and risks as required.
  • Completes project tasks, as required, outside of normal project management responsibilities, to help the customer meet their business commitments and deadlines.


Qualifications

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:    

 

  • Minimum 10 years demonstrated on-the-job experience in applying Project Management principles.
  • Minimum 4 years demonstrated on-the-job experience in applying Business Process Improvement principles.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Excellent innovative thinking skills, and the ability to analyze details and map those to a big-picture view.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing presentations for business and technical audiences.
  • Ability to pass a government NACI background investigation for public trust positions.    


TYPICAL EDUCATON:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems or a related discipline and 15 years or more of related experience.
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in related discipline preferred.

 

Desired Qualifications

 
  • Experience with CMMI assessments
  • Six Sigma Lean Green Belt or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
