SAIC is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Langley IT Enhanced Service II (LITES II at Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. LITES II provides a wide range of support for Research Support Services, Application Management Services and IT Services across NASA Langley Research Center.

 

Job Description:

           

  • Candidate will join a team supporting NASA’s Air Traffic Operations Lab
  • Position includes system administration, IT security and user support of Windows workstations running simulation software, Linux systems, file servers, virtualization servers and web servers.

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience
  • IT experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree

Required Skills:

  • Solid Windows desktop and server system administration experience.
  • Five years of experience with Windows 7/10.
  • Three years of experience with Linux (RedHat & CentOS).
  • Strong understanding of IT security best practices.
  • Three years of IT security responsibility experience.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts that includes firewalls, vlans, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Cisco IOS on Catalyst class switches.
  • Self-starter showing strong willingness and ability to learn new concepts and techniques.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks/projects and see them through to completion.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and also independently.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Must have experience in analyzing problems, formulating solution options and implementing the chosen option.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency.

Desired Qualifications

 
  • Experience in the Flight Simulation or Aviation Industry
  • Experience managing VMware vSphere and vCenter Server and Xen Hypervisor.
  • Experience with Windows PowerShell and Ansible.
  • Experience with patch management via WSUS server administration.
  • Experience with various scripting languages in both Windows and Linux environments (i.e bash, Perl, etc.)
  • Web Server administration.
  • An understanding of the DevOps model.
  • ASA Cisco Firewall experience.
  • BigFix, Splunk and Symantec Enterprise experience.
  • Bash/Shell scripting experience.
