Job Description: Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated professionals in El Segundo, CA who assist the US Air Force in developing and deploying the next generation of satellites and ground systems for missile warning (MW) and space-based environmental monitoring (SBEM). These systems alert senior military officials when missile launches occur around the globe, as well as enable global naval vessel and troop movements by providing mission-critical weather data to ensure safe passage. Our Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) team has an immediate need for a Systems Engineer with experience in applying Model Based Systems Engineering tools and techniques for Department of Defense (DoD) space-based systems or other industries. Candidate will provide systems engineering and integration expertise in support of the Space and Missile Systems Center’s (SMC) SBEM and MW programs. Candidate will support requirements development and management activities to include requirements traceability analysis, change impact analysis, technical baseline integration, verification planning and execution, concepts of operations (CONOPS) and risk management of all SBEM and MW mission capabilities. Candidate should have experience with system acquisition, systems engineering lifecycle, architecture, operations concepts, requirements and interface development and maturation for space and ground systems. Major duties of the position include:
Planning and executing MBSE model development to support architecture development and digital engineering initiatives in support of program milestones
Applying MBSE tools and techniques to capture system functions, services, interfaces, requirements, and concept of operations to support system design
Supporting requirements analysis and functional allocation to hardware, software, operator and other segments and components of the system(s) within the models
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
Production of model views, including DoDAF products, to support program milestones and documentation
Enable the generation of systems engineering documentation for requirements, ICDs, systems design, CONOPS, verification and test
Supporting analysis activities utilizing MBSE models and tool
Supporting development of study plans for architecture development and special trade studies
Collaborating with prime contractors, other team
contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Air Force
Required Experience, Skills and Attributes:
Experience working across space and ground segment organizations to coordinate and identify system requirements and key performance parameters to ensure end-to-end mission performance requirements are met.
Experience with DoDAF and architecture development.
Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect, No Magic Cameo, or other comparable MBSE tools
Experience with requirements management in an MBSE tool that include requirements traceability and verification.
Demonstrated experience working with Air Force/DoD customers in an acquisition environment, with space and/or ground systems.
Highly motivated individual who is a self-starter and works well in a team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills
5+ years of demonstrated Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
