Job Description



SAIC has an opening for a motivated, dedicated and energetic Technical Writer-Editor to support various Navy programs and projects in San Diego, CA. The candidate will provide technical and programmatic documentation support for Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (PEO C4I) Systems and Programs in a professional and dynamic work environment. This position provides the opportunity to use and grow your writing and editing skills at either the SAIC or customer facilities. Duties and responsibilities include:

Under general direction, consult and collaborate with systems engineers, subject matter experts and other available sources to write and edit technical and programmatic copy for various types of program and project documents required by the DoD Acquisition Process.

Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documentation for software and systems engineering, and author or edit programmatic and defense acquisition materials.

Assist in gathering, preparing, and maintaining technical publications, information and artifacts for an internal documentation library and ensure version control.

Coordinate layout and design of documents utilized by the end-user community of DOD systems

Interpret engineering drawings, concept of operations, and system views to understand and blend large quantities of data and information into technical and programmatic documents.

Research technical subject matter, organize information from multiple sources, and express the technical and programmatic information in written form.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and six (6) years or more of related experience; Masters and four (4) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.
Applicable experience is acceptable in lieu of degree that includes proficiency with multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Demonstrated ability to write concisely based on technical or programmatic information from engineering documentation, consultations with system engineers, team leads, subject matter experts, or other available sources.

Desired Qualifications

 Experience working in DOD, NAVWAR, PEO C4I, SYSCOM, or other PEO.
Photoshop, Snagit, or other graphics applications.
MS Sharepoint.
