Position Description:

SAIC is seeking a Messaging Center Technician to support a federal government agency.

 

The employee will work on-site, at a secure government location, performing analysis, technical support, operations and maintenance activities as it relates to complex communications, telegraphic and messaging systems to ensure smooth and continuous IT operations. This position is for the Day Shift with rotating weekends and some holidays. Some schedule changes may occur based on government and contract requirements.

 
Description of Duties:
  • Monitor messaging queues and system consoles. Remediate messaging errors, data spillage and system faults following Standard Operating Procedures and escalating as necessary.
  • Prepare and process telegraphic data, conduct research and respond to user inquires as it relates to messaging center operations.
  • Perform periodic system health checks and circuit tests. Record results accurately and in a timely fashion. Alert and inform stakeholders of errors following established procedures.
  • Record all incidents and service requests in enterprise ticket management system.
  • Report system control failures and design gaps.
Position requires one weekend a month and some holiday rotation 

Qualifications

Required Experience/Skills/Attributes:
High School and seven (7) years related experience to include:
  • Experience in 24x7 classified messaging center environments performing analysis, support and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operations Procedures and verbal direction.
  • Ability to focus on messaging queues and system consoles for sustained periods.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work commitment.
  • Possess basic literacy in TCP/IP networking and IT service management.
Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes:
  • ACP127 messaging systems
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Familiarity with Remedy ticketing management system

Clearance Requirement:
Top Secret with ability to obtain SCI.
