SAIC is seeking an Alternate Information System Security Officer (ISSO) on the NASA OMES II contract in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Ground program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The position is located in Greenbelt, MD.
The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property.
The candidate will provide assistance, and act as a back up to the NOAA NESDIS ISSO.
Serving as the alternate principle staff advisor to the system owner on all matters involving the security of the information system;
Managing the security aspects of the information system and oversee the day-to-day security operations of the system;
Assisting the system owner in:
o Developing and enforcing security policies for the information system;
o Assembling the security accreditation package, and
o Managing and controlling changes to the information system and assessing the security impacts of those changes.
Completing the NOAA/NESDIS Annual IT Security training
Follow the appointment as indicated in accordance with section 2.18 of the NOAA IT Security Manual (ITSM) 212-1301, dated May 25, 2016 and Alternate ISSO Appointment Letter from NOAA 5042 System Owner (SO).
Traveling as appropriate for security-related meetings and activities, and/or training class(es) as approved by the Project.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Cyber Security or related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
Possess upon appointment and maintain the
- Certified Information System
Security Professional (CISSP) designation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in NIST 800-53 and FISMA
