JOB SUMMARY

 

SAIC currently has a job opening for a Buyer IV.  Candidate will procure goods and services, as well as administer purchase orders of moderate dollar value, risk, and complexity and will report to the Procurement Manager.  This position is in support of SAIC’s Corporate Procurement department that supports indirect procurement for the company’s various corporate functional areas (HR, ITO, Finance, etc.).

 

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:  

  • Responsibilities include the development and negotiation of favorable prices, terms, schedules and other provisions of purchase orders and other contract types, ensuring consistency with end-user requirements and procurement policies/procedures.
  • Issue purchase orders for goods and services supporting SAIC internal requirements
  • Purchase order administration/file maintenance
  • Closeout for all procurement related activities and supplier customer management, including negotiating price/cost and price/cost-related terms and other contract provisions
  • Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules
  • Recommends suppliers based on gathered information and may also recommend improvements to procurement processes and procedures
  • Helps educate and mentor other team members
  • Assume other responsibilities as requested in support of departmental goals and objectives

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

 

Bachelors and eight (8) years or more of related experience; Masters and six (6) years or more experience 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:   

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Solid communications skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to communicate across several levels of staff and customers/vendors
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Exhibit critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to take a structured and proactive approach to full lifecycle management of projects
  • Ability to actively prioritize projects in accordance with changing objectives
  • Ability to come up with creative solutions to complex problems and communicate those to achieve stakeholder buy-in
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and Outlook

 

DESIRED SKILLS:  

  • Costpoint purchasing system
  • Professional certification in Supply Management (CPSM) or Project Management (PMP)
