SAIC is currently looking for information technology professionals who are interested in supporting the Air Force National Capital Region Information Technology Services (AF NCR ITS) as technical, logistics, and subject matter experts (SMEs).
The AF NCR ITS Team will provide professional, administrative, technical, logistics, and management support for the U.S. Air Force’s 844th Communications Group (844 CG) as the service provider to the Air Force District of Washington AFDW. For the AFDW and Air Force units throughout the NCR, the 844 CG mission includes supporting and providing input for accomplishing the programming, budgeting, financing, implementation, operations, support, and maintenance of assigned technology systems, including critical support for the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force and elements of the Headquarters, U.S. Air Force. Support requires work to have work performed at Joint Base Andrews (Andrews AFB) in Maryland.
This specific position will support the National Military Command Center (NMCC) and test equipment.
The equipment to be tested will be any device used to maintain, evaluate, measure, calibrate, diagnose, or otherwise examine materials, supplies, networks, equipment, and systems to identify or isolate actual or potential malfunctions/discrepancies/deficiencies or decide if they meet operational specifications established in technical publications.
a) Ensure test equipment is calibrated, if required, and meets or exceeds AF and/or industry specifications.
b) Ensure all test equipment requiring calibration be taken to the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) as required by the calibration interval specified in the Technical Order.
JOB DESCRIPTION: May design, analyze, plan, modify, and maintain networks and network components supporting data, voice and/or audio communication activities. Prepares the analysis of short/long term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling. May conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies as well as internal studies of network performance and traffic analysis. May evaluate new technology. Duties may include providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture; providing information for hardware and software selection; and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience.
Current IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GSEC, Security+ ce, SSCP)
Current Computing Environment certification (e.g. MCTA, MSCA, VCA, VCP, AWS CCP, AWS CSOA)
