Seeking a knowledgeable Engineer in the area of Core Avionics Systems with a primary focus on Communication, Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM). They will be responsible for supporting avionics research, product development, and integration of the assigned systems throughout the acquisition cycle from concept through production, and for technical support during in-service use. The candidate will also be responsible for the technical management of avionics systems during the various phases of integration, platform installation, test and evaluation, and fleet use. They may need to provide technical direction and administrative coordination of assigned equipment and installation programs.
Provide navigation engineering subject matter expertise while overseeing platform Embedded GPS Inertial (EGI) vendor design and development work in support of CNS/ATM capability insertions. Support the Required Navigation Performance Area Navigation (RNP RNAV) on the US Coast Guard MH-55 program.
Review ECP’s, Documentation such as platform specific EGI Interface Control Documents (ICD), Requirements Specifications, Test Plans/Reports. Ensure the Navigation sensor complies with the Latency, Source Integrity Level, and System Design Assurance requirements for ADS-B.
Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military weapons systems. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals,
and other technical documentation. Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration, management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management. Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems, or management information systems.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BS degree in Math, Physics, Computer Science or one of the following Engineering disciplines: Aerospace, Aeronautical, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic or Computer Software is required.
At least six (6) years of experience in an engineering position is required. Five (5) years of experience directly related to Naval Aviation systems. Demonstrated knowledge in area of expertise is preferred.
