Seeking Engineer in the area of Core Avionics Systems with a primary focus on Communication, Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM). They will be responsible for supporting avionics research, product development, and integration of the assigned systems throughout the acquisition cycle from concept through production, and for technical support during in-service use.
The candidate will also be responsible for the technical management of avionics systems during the various phases of integration, platform installation, test and evaluation, and fleet use. They may need to provide technical direction and administrative coordination of assigned equipment and installation programs.
They will review vendor delivered mission planning and radio control technical data for accuracy and completeness. They will make recommendations and assist in developing communication configurations to meet platform requirements and work closely with customers, to assist in the development of test plans participate in testing events. The candidate will provide Avionics Subject Matter Expertise with specialized technical knowledge; in support of Communication, Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) capabilities across multiple unique platforms. Provide technical analysis of performance data and metrics related to the platform integration of networking solutions. They will perform requirements analysis and qualification tasks, to develop communication integration plans that meet platform specific requirements. They will analyze requirements to evaluate software modifications being proposed by the developer.
The ideal candidate performs tasks with little or no guidance. Has demonstrated knowledge in area of engineering expertise. Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, and design, develop, implement, test or evaluate military weapons systems. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management. Analyzes designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems. Leads the execution of complex tasks.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
MS degree in Computer Science, Math or Engineering discipline is required. A BS degree in Computer Science, Math or Engineering discipline and an additional four (4) years of experience can be substituted for an MS degree.
At least ten (10) years of experience in an engineering position is required. Three (3) years of experience directly related to Naval Avionics system is preferred.
